The lagoon is holding some good numbers of redfish and black drum. Trout are still being caught on pigfish and Gulp Jerk shad bodies in new penny and cherry seed colors. I like using a combo clicker cork with a Gulp jerk shad or Gulp shrimp. Seems you can cover more ground and call the fish as you work the bait over them. The Indian River is looking a lot cleaner these days making the waters along the west bank quite inviting. Last week on a pre fish day I took jacks, ladyfish trout, reds, snook and black drum. A little further north at Ponce Inlet black drum have been at the south rocks. Fish outgoing tide with Gulp shrimp and shrimp and you should catch some. Reds are also present with the drum. You may even take some whiting and a few pompano. Snook can be had at the docks and bridges as well at the north rocks at the inlet. Use a pigfish, finger mullet (ok 9" mullet) or a big shrimp to catch the line sidders. Getting one in the slot can be more of a challenge than catching them.

Tarpon are in the river as well as at the jetties but I have seen most of them in the old east channel rolling while we are fishing for trout. I would soak a mullet for the poons and be patient. If you are thinking of going fishing it is a great time now because the hunters are in the woods and the boat traffic is to a minimum. If you want to catch fish call me and I will guarantee you do.
