Mosquito Lagoon - Saltwater Fishing Report

We took many reds on every trip this week with many over the slot. The reds have been happy on the flats with waving tails on the major feeds. They were bunched up tight last week and then the water warmed up a tad and spread the field a little. The reds have been pushing up nicely along the edges of the flats on the rising tide. Fish them slow and don't push them because that will only tighten their lips. I had Andy and Tim Tolbert out last wek and the reds were chewing the bottom of the boat. I was eating a great fruit and I told them, these reds are eating so good I will hook one on a greatfruit peal. So I stripped a peal off and tossed it in front of the reds and they chewed it up. Andy finished him off and I finished my fruit. Big trout are in the sand holes as well. I broke out the deadly Berkley Gulp Jerk shads since trout season has opened and we have been catching many of them. The temps have dropped and it got down right cold here in Fl. . The water temp in the lagoon was 68 today.
