Low water narrows the playing field

Mosquito Lagoon - Saltwater Fishing Report

Trout is the game most anglers are fishing for now with pigfish and Gulp, my go to bait is the Gulp Jerkshad.. Work them on the bottom with a eighth ounce jig head when you are fishing in three feet or deeper. You can also work them on a float or clicker bead rig. You will also catch some bluefish, jacks and ladyfish in the mix fishing this way. We even caught a few snook in the lagoon this week in the lagoon.
Tarpon are at the jetties and the bridges in the Indian River and you will see some in the lagoon just not as many. The bait is really thick in the lagoon so I think there will be many fish showing up this year.

Reds have been tailing on the flats and have been eating well ,when they are not sleeping in the grass. We have been blind casting Gulp shrimp in natural color rigged weed less. If you have two anglers one should always be ready to take a shot at the sighted fish. While the other is casting, preferably where the glare blinds you. This way you are not missing any fish on your drift. It is also a good thing to cover a lot of ground blind casting a Johnson Silver Minnow. Look for black drum while up on the flat, I have seen many fish this year. We saw some tailing yesterday and fished several schools last week. We got them to eat our Gulp shrimp in the natural color. Work these drum slower than you would a redfish they take a little mort time to focus on your bait. Remember think like a fish to catch fish. Or just call me 386 314 5656
