Parting of the red sea

Mosquito Lagoon - Saltwater Fishing Report

Sorry I have not posted a report in a few but the weather has been so nice it has been hard to stay inside. I had Henry and Paul Schmidlin down for some hot inshore action. They caught many redfish in and out of the slot. The biggest they caught was 45'' what a slob. They also caught some real nice black drum, that they sight cast. The past week the lagoons water has just dropped out (more than a foot) and the fish have been concentrated and it has been easy picking. Take a thousand acre flat and remove all the water, that is a lot of concentrated fish. Now do that many times and hold that thought, that is what the lagoon looks like. Reds are so thick, now I know what they saw in the parting of the red sea. Reds have been waving tails every day rooting shrimp and crabs on the bottom. The drum are right behind them doing the same thing, (tailing and flashing) what more can one ask for. Approach with stealth and you should be able to catch many in a days fishing. In the IFA Redfish Tour Tournament Kim and I bounced Gulp Jerk Shads and caught twelve redfish. We caught many fish that day but the upper slop fish had trouble finding its way to the Jacuzzi. This week we are off to Sarasota to fish the IFA Redfish Tournament. The trout have been getting more and more present with the warmer water temps.

The cobia have been going around the cold bubble that has formed just outside of Ponce. To the south of us in Canaveral they have been getting a few and at May Port it has been going off. The past two days we spent poking around off shore and catching some dolphin close to 30 #s, and some amberjack and to many red snapper to talk about. Then we fished the rock piles another day and caught porgys, black drum, kingfish, aka whiting, flounder, lane snapper, gray snapper and triggerfish . This is the time to book your trip because the fish are waving you down. Think like a fish to catch fish or just call me at 386 314 5656
