Ponce Inlet to Mosquito Lagoon

Mosquito Lagoon - Saltwater Fishing Report

Sorry for not having a report for so long my internet provider has been down. The flats in the Mosquito Lagoon have been giving up its share of reds and trout. This past week on the big moon the fish in the am were a little tight lipped, but when the moon was in the rite position the fish turned on. I had Mike and Pat Tinch out for two hours of fishing and they caught eight nice reds on the flats.

The channel is holding mangrove snapper and sheepshead along the docks and channel edges. There are some pompano along the ICW as well and they can be taken on shrimp or pompano jigs. The snook were chewing just before the season closed, we took several nice linesiders on shrimp along the channel.

We fished for black drum a few days ago and took sixteen fish in thirty minutes. The drums were eating pieces of shrimp freelined along the trees. We used light Stren eight-pound line to increase the challenge; the trees scored a few fish. The drum weighed from two to five pounds. We have been taking some gator size trout this past week and making sure they are released unharmed; the season will reopen in January.

Remember: Think like a fish to catch fish.
