Mosquito Lagoon - Saltwater Fishing Report
The Mosquito lagoon has been red hot these past few days with red fish tails waving like flags on the forth of July. That is when they are calm and not spooked, if you disturb them you will notice that they will not tail when disturbed. If you sit back and watch you will notice a pattern of calming then you can calmly slide in and take a shot.
Calvin Camble joined me for a half day and took eight trout and four reds. Betsy and Chuck were out the next day and took nine trout five reds and a mackerel (in the lagoon). Most of these fish were taken on 12-Fathom jigs. We have been taking the trout on slam'Rs in pumpkinseed and pearl.
There have taken a lot of trout around the clinker islands bouncing jigs off the bottom. The lady fish jacks and an occasional mackerel are joining them in the finger mullet reunion. Work your jig at different speeds and patters till you find the mode of the fish. Showering bait is always a good place to cast, you know just behind this is a bigger scaled critter.
Remember: Think like a fish to catch fish.
