Ponce Inlet to Mosquito Lagoon

Capt. Joe Porcelli

Mosquito Lagoon - Saltwater Fishing Report

Wow what a week of catching it has been. Pat and Bill Griggs joined me for some tailing reds and some awesome trout action. They sight casted at some reds and took three, then we went a little deeper and caught nine trout. The trout were eating the pumpkinseed 12 Fathom slam’Rs bounced along the bottom, all were very respectable fish none even close to a short.

The next day we took twenty-two trout and ten reds on the flats. The reds were caught on shrimp and the trout were caught on the slam’Rs. They released all but two fish. We also took some ladyfish and a few jacks in the mix on the slam’Rs. In the channel you will find a lot of action with the ladyfish and jacks. Look for the schools of finger mullet and you will be in the action.

This weekend I fished the Ranger Mercury open in Titusville with my girlfriend Wendy Wilson. We caught twenty-five reds in the Mosquito Lagoon that were all legal or over size fish. We brought in the two that were as close to the high end of the slot and took sixth place. Wendy caught most of the fish while I poled the boat along the flats. All our fish were taken on shrimp. You go girl!

Remember: Think like a fish to catch fish.
