Mosquito Lagoon - Saltwater Fishing Report

This week in the Mosquito Lagoon we had some banner days and some not. Wendell Ferdic joined me for a half day and took ten trout and only one was short, all the others were large to gator size. He also put a few reds in the bag with one over slot fish. Ladyfish and some jacks mixed up the action.
We had one day that was not on fire then it turned back on for Steve Perry with twenty-four trout and two reds. We also took a few ladyfish for some leaping action. Oh while we were in a school of ladyfish I noticed a tarpon rolling near them in the Lagoon.
The mangrove snapper should be in full swing this month through the summer. Fish with the little finger mullet, shrimp or a small pinfish. These snapper can be tricky to catch at times but when they are going off they are a blast. I like the challenge of getting them out of the rocks that they call home. Mackerel are in the surf and at the jetties in good numbers. You can take some whiting in the surf while you are soaking a few rays.
Remember: Think like a fish to catch fish.
