Ponce Inlet to Mosquito Lagoon

Capt. Joe Porcelli
December 23, 2001
Mosquito Lagoon - Saltwater Fishing Report

The fishing in the Mosquito Lagoon was perfect today with a calm morning and a breeze by noon. The tails of reds were staring us in the face at first light this morning. I told Alfrado and Tony Rodregez our game plan just prior to the reds waving act. They were to cast 12 Fathon soft plastics at targets that we were going to encounter. Targets such as sandy patches in the grass flat, nervous bait and the obvious tailers. They were hooked up with in a few minutes of fishing and totaled the half day with ten fish.

A few days ago Sarah (my daughter) and I went out for a fun day of fishing in the lagoon. We tossed 12 Fathom plastics at reds and big trout along the spotted bottom on the flats. We took several reds and a trout that was nine plus pounds. Remember trout season is closed for the rest of the month.

The Indian River is giving up it's share of flounder, black drum and sheepshead. Fish the sand bars for the flounder and the drum and sheepshead can be caught on the edge of the channel. Use small crabs and shrimp for best results. For fishing charters call and I will put you on the fish. Guaranteed!

Remember: Think like a fish to catch fish.
