Mosquito Lagoon - Saltwater Fishing Report

Redfish have taken over the lagoon the past few weeks. The bait has moved in and the reds along with trout have come to the buffet. This week we tossed Gulp shrimp and Johnson silver minnow spoons at many fish and have been catching the snot out of them.
Change your presentation if one does not work go to another. Work it slow or dead stick your Gulp shrimp and if that does not work retrieve fast and see what happens. We have been catching 10 to 20 a day along with some black drum. The one thing you don't want to do is drive your school. Pushing fish will swim like hell to get away from your noisy hull, even when you are polling. I use a trolling motor most of the time with great success. Some are willing to bet that trolling motors scare fish. No the e inexperienced operator scares fish. Read the fish when you use a trolling motor and see what speeds scare them then stay out of that speed.

Trout have showed their spots this past week so we decided to catch some. We tossed Gulp shrimp in new penny and Jerk shads in char truce and white. We caught about twenty in an hour with a few keepers. If you are fishing with novice anglers don't be afraid to put on a popping cork above your Gulp shrimp. This week it is going to blow most of the week and conditions won't be favorable till after the weekend. It is still fishable but cross wind casting for a new be is tough. Remember think like a fish to catch fish or just call me. 386 314 5656
