Mosquito Lagoon - Saltwater Fishing Report
Well first off I would like to wish everyone a Happy New Year with many tight lines and big fish. We are starting the low water period as well as the cold water time so over the next few months this is what you can expect . Red fish schooling up in groups of anywhere from 30 to 500 fish that will usually eat artificial as well as live bait and flies , the key to working these schools is to stay as far away from them as possible just at the edge of casting range and work the outside edges of them . Be careful not to overwork a school they can become skittish and disappear very fast . The trout and flounder should be moving into the creeks with paddle tails, gulp shrimp or live shrimp bounced along the bottom . We have the black drum schooled up already in several areas try using live shrimp laid up in front of the schools for best results . This is a great time despite the cold to get out and catch some great fish and we typically some of the best fishing days of the year . Have fun and a great new year if interested in booking a charter you can call me or book directly on line at Fatfish Guide Service with Capt.
