2017 winter report Mosquito Lagoon to Daytona Beach

Capt. Michael Mann
January 3, 2017
Mosquito Lagoon - Saltwater Fishing Report

The water has gotten very clear over the last few weeks with some cooler temps and the Red Fish and trout have started to school up. There are still small groups and single on the flats and island edges as well as the oyster bars . This should remain a strong pattern as the cooler temps continue to stay . The best baits on sunny days have been live shrimp or shrimp imitations and on cloudy days a jig head with a paddle tail have been producing. On really cold days start out deeper and work your way into the shallows till you find the depths the fish are holding in . The best bites have been right after a strong cold front so don't let the cold keep you off the water .
