Amberjacks and Red Groupers

Capt. Michael Avinon
August 2, 2011
Naples - Saltwater Fishing Report

Well the amberjacks are back on the menu after a two month closure and there should be plenty around with so little pressure. The red grouper fishing continues to be as good as we have seen it in a long time with limits coming quickly on both half days and full days.Last sat I fished a full day with 3 guys and we had our limit in two drops and fished goliath grouper and barracudas the rest of the day.On sun we fished a Half day and the red grouper fishing was the same catching 10 keeper groupers to 26" in 3 drops .Then we pulled on several goliath grouper to finish the morning.

Naples Fishing Forecast:

The red groupers continue to be the hot item from just a few miles offshore to seventy miles. They have really made a comeback the last couple of years and provided there are no major hurricanes in the southern gulf the red grouper fishing should just continue to get better. Also in august I have had some big days on the cobias. In august its not uncommon to finish a limit of red groupers with a couple of cobias.

More Fishing Reports:

I have been operating out of Naples for over twenty years and have the spots to prove it.With a range of over 400 miles and the speed to get there quickly the options are endless. We are consistently one of the top producing boats in sw florida, stop by the city dock and see for yourself.
