Naples - Saltwater Fishing Report

I fished everyday from October 9th till the 20th and enjoyed every bit of it. Most mornings started at 4:30am netting mullet and ladyfish. I picked up my clients at 6:15 and were off to get on an excellent tarpon bite. The early morning outgoing tide was full of mullet ad tarpon. I was averaging 4 hookups a morning with one morning getting 9 bites, 6 hookups and 3 to the boat. It was an early morning bite and by 8am it was over. Most fish were in the 80-100lb range. The big fish were more abundant on the first few trips and gradually disappeared with the later tides.

Pilchards have been very easy to get with the 10ft 3/8 net. One throw and you have enough for the day and a buddy. Fishing the docks have been very productive still for snook, snapper and big jacks. The early morning outgoing tide and east winds have left the back very low and in some places dry. Most snook have been in the 22-26in range with a few nice fish lost to pilings.

Redfish are here in pretty good numbers when you can find water high enough to get into. Points and shorelines with good structure have been good. Live chumming has really helped as most if the redfish have been the last fish to eat. Snook and snapper start it off and once they are full the redfish start to eat. They have been nice fish in the 25-30in range.

Trout are the only ones missing from the party. The water temps need to come down a bit still before they get settled in to their Winter homes. Pichards and DOA Cals work best for me. Good moving water and deep channels is were I do most of my trout fishing.
Novemebr is setting up to be a great month both inshore and on the near shore wrecks. Give me a call to get in on the action 239 404 6255
Naples Fishing Forecast:

Now is the time to start checking some of the rock piles and wrecks for kingfish, spanish macks and cobia. Cooler weather is here and more is expected this week. With these passing fronts the water will cool and we will get a good push of migratory fish. Runners, mullet and bluefish slow trolled are hard for a big king to pass up. Pilchards, jigs, and spoons will work perfect for the spanish and just about anything you throw at a cobia will get its attention.
