Gags are showin up strong

Capt. Michael Avinon
January 5, 2010
Naples - Saltwater Fishing Report

The fishing offshore has been nothing short of incredible. The gags have moved in with a vengance covering up ledges and wrecks from 4 miles out to 50 miles.Over the last ten days we have been catching limits of gags and some mangroves on our fullday charters and between 2 and 4 gags on the half days. One day we were even lucky enough to catch a limit of kings on a full day to go with 17 keeper groupers.Thats as strong as I have seen the fishing in naples in a long time.I also had a report from a freind catching a sailfish 50 miles offshore while fishing for kings.

Naples Fishing Forecast:

The gag grouper fishing should continue strong until the closure feb.1.The kingfish will end up in key west when the wind stops blowing out of the north but cooler water temps should really get the mangs goin.

Target Species:

gag grouper mangrove snapper
