Naples - Saltwater Fishing Report

The fishing the last few weeks has been nothing short of awesome. The grouper fishing has been some of the best of the year with limits of gags and reds common.Last week on a full day we caught 8 keeper reds for our limit and released another 16 keepers to 12pds for a total of 24 keeper groupers. Two days later I had the same group out for a 1/2 day and we caught 6 keeper gags to 30" 4 keeper reds and a cobia to finish off all in 4 hours. On thursday I had a group of six anglers on a 3/4 day and we caught a limit,12 gags, with 6 fish over 30" and two reds to finish with 14 keeper groupers for the trip.Today the forcast was 20 to 25 knots out of the east so we decided to stay close to home.We started off jigging for spanish within 2 miles of the beach then moving another 15 miles offshore to catch a limit of gags to 32" and a 30 pd cuda to finish our day.

Naples Fishing Forecast:

Gag grouper remains open until november 15 and limits on a full day should be common with reds mixed in as well. The new limit for red groupers,4 per person, should go into effect about the same time the gags close. The spanish are thick on the beach and the kings should be right behind them.October and november are two of my favorite months to fish because there are so many different species moving into the area.
