July Fishing

Capt. Joey Benko
August 3, 2014
Naples - Saltwater Fishing Report

July has been nothing short of fantastic with big snook and tarpon catches. For snook and the abundance of snappers use pilchards with a 2/0 circle hook and 30 lbs leaders. Going a little smaller may result in the occasional break off when the big snook hits. Tarpon can be targeted getting out early in the morning before the sun comes up running the beaches looking for rollers and floating out some crabs or some catfish tails will result in a big hookup. The redfish bite has been very spotty but if you have the time try soaking some cut up ladyfish along troughs and mangrove points.

Naples Fishing Forecast:

August should be on fire with very little boat traffic during the week. Look for bait to be holding on the beaches and these baits should be getting bigger. As the sun begins to heat things up target mangrove shorelines that have a little shade to find those reds and snook looking for a nice pilchard.

Target Species:

Snook, Tarpon, Redfish, Trout, Snappers
