March Fishing

Capt. Joey Benko
March 20, 2013
Naples - Saltwater Fishing Report

With March upon us the fishing has been very up and down with cold fronts coming through the area. The water temps have cooled to the mid to upper 60's and trout can be found in the deep holes in the backcountry. I've had great success using shrimp and gulf shrimp for these tasty treats. This week charters also proved to be great for some black drum and big sheepshead. The pilchards have been around but due to some good NW blows the gulf has been pretty rough to get bait. I expect the temps to start climbing and with that an increase in snook and tarpon catches should make for some fantastic days on the water.

Naples Fishing Forecast:

With a few more cold fronts expected this week I believe the fishing will get better as these fronts get through leading up to a very hot end to March and a great start to April fishing.

Target Species:

Redfish Snook Tarpon Trout Snapper
