Naples - Saltwater Fishing Report
It has been a LONG time since one of my Naples fishing guide updates, so here goes! The beach fishing ended a couple weeks ago, and now the Tarpon fishing on the Tamiami Canals has started up to fill the void. A trip a couple days ago with repeat customer John Goodheart produced a little Tarpon, and a very hard missed grab. Today I had out California angler Craig Fanning, who has done very little fishing in Florida. I was pleased that despite the very cold weather and a stiff north wind this morning, he was able to stick his first Tarpon (pictured) while fly fishing with one of my rabbit strip patterns. On both trips we saw fish in the 30-50lb class...I can't wait till somebody hooks one of those guys! We should see Snook push into the area with the colder temps as well. Fishing will continue to improve and should last through most or all of April!!
Naples Fishing Forecast:
Tarpon and Snook numbers will increase as cooler temperatures push the fish farther inland. The Tarpon fishing is just starting, and will stay solid through April.
Target Species:
Tarpon
