Naples - Saltwater Fishing Report

Spring is finally upon us and the weather has been perfect. The fishing here in Naples has been pretty solid since mid March. The water temps are right around 74 on the beach and close to 80 in the back. The pilchards are all over the place and the fish are hammering them. I will start with the snook fishing, it's on fire. Naples did very good during the record cold, fish were lost for sure, just not in huge numbers like places to our north. They are in the passes, docks, beaches and backwaters. I have been throwing back 2-3 slot fish everyday and went only 2 trips out of my last 10 without a 10lb fish. Redfish have made a good showing in the back bays on a low incoming or high outgoing fishing with pilchards. They are in the 20-25in range and we had one fish at 32in early in the week. Tarpon started showing the the 1st week of April, but weren't in fishable numbers. They haven't been on the beaches, just in select back bays. Tonight was my first tarpon trip and we had three fish spit baits before finally boating one in the 130lb range.
Naples Fishing Forecast:

Snook fishing is really good and should only get better as more big fish move in from offshore. Tarpon are showing and will be off the beaches any day. Now is the time to fish
