November Delivers Great Backwater Catches in SW Florida!

Capt. Todd Geroy
November 21, 2013
Naples - Saltwater Fishing Report

As usual November has proven to be one of the very best months of the year for my anglers to have quality catches. We are finding a variety of species in the mix as well as some large snook and redfish.

Snook fishing has been excellent in recent weeks with many trips releasing as many as thirty on half day trips. There is an abundance of smaller fish in the 20 to 24 inch range. Quite a few large snook have been caught as well ranging to 38 inches. Live sardines are providing the best action, but we have also produced snook on jigs and flies on trips lately.

Redfish continue to be reliable targets with plenty of 23 to 28 inch fish still being caught. While they are not in the schools of a month ago, we are still able to produce quite a few nice fish. We enjoyed some great sight fishing at low tide this week with plenty of shots at reds cruising and tailing in skinny water. Well placed flies got their attention and several nice fish were caught.

Other species making the scene have included an increase of sea trout and some pompano both of which should continue to improve if the waters cool just a little more. We have also been having some fun with juvenile goliath grouper and some nice gag grouper to 25 inches in some of the deeper creeks. Jack crevalle are everywhere with some running to 18 lbs. for those anglers looking for a real work out!

Naples Fishing Forecast:

The same action should continue as long as warm weather prevails. The arrival of cooler weather should drive more trout and pompano into the bays. Bluefish should start showing in big numbers also.

Target Species:

snook, redfish, grouper, sea trout, pompano
