Offshore fishing remains good

Capt. Michael Avinon

Naples - Saltwater Fishing Report

Even though we were in an extremely long cold stretch the grouper fishing is very good. The last week we are still catching our limit of gag groupers and amberjacks mixed in.On the half day bottom there are still gags on the better spots. On friday we had a group from the UK and caught our limit of gags and aj's.We also landed several goliath groupers up to 200 pds.Today with the big ground sea the fish were a little slow but we still caught 10 keepers to 30 in. and a couple small goliaths. We dont have any open days until feb. so hopefully I can get some more pics online of some of our catches.Theres another front on the way thurs. fri. but its another weak one so hopefully this pattern will stay for a while.

Naples Fishing Forecast:

The fishing will stay strong until the end of the month when the groupers close. The fish wont go anywhere but we shift into snapper mode on feb 1 .With the closure in the atlantic there is only one place to keep groupers, the gulf.Hopefully the feds will get some better info over the next year that way we dont have to fish around closed seasons.

More Fishing Reports:

I have been operating out of Naples for over twenty years and have the spots to prove it.With a range of over 400 miles and the speed to get there quickly the options are endless. We are consistently one of the top producing boats in sw florida, stop by the city dock and see for yourself.
