Naples - Saltwater Fishing Report

Tarpon is the Word!

This must be the time for Tarpon, every one that has fished this week, that is all they wanted to hear about. I felt bad for my Snook fishing because they had to take a back seat to the Silver King. I guess you figured out what the main body of the report is about this week. Tarpon fishing has started to get p steady here, whether you fished along the beaches for the schools of Daisy Chaining Fish or you opted for the smaller Creek Tarpon, they were all available and willing to take fly or bait this week. I fished bait one day for the fish and we hooked seven fish and landed two, one of which was just over 100Lbs., the other a runt of only 50Lbs.. Still much fun! We fished with fly mostly and had some very good days, Personally I think we actually had better fishing with the fly than with the bait. One trip in particular we fed nine laid up or slow rollers, jumped Four and landed three out of the Four. Fishing with another client we fed 11 fish, jumped seven, and landed two in four hours. They didn't seem to think that that was very good fishing, I would like to find out were their fishing when they aren't with me. I would of considered that a good day, but everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Any how enough about that. Snook fishing is going strong, I fished under the lights once last week and we caught, well lets just say a whole bunch, along with two small Tarpon. Snook are just starting to show at the passes so it should be starting to get wild and crazy on the new moon next week. Have to go fish. Roan z.
