Naples - Saltwater Fishing Report

Naples and Marco Fishing Report including the Everglades

Fishing out of Naples for Snook and Tarpon has been excellent whether you choose to throw bait, spin/plug, or fly. Fished Fly today and boated 13 Snook to 8 lbs., one 22inch Redfish and Two Tarpon a 10 and 20 pounder. One of my other captains yesterday caught 30 Snook on Bait and jumped two Tarpon, that he estimated would have went 70 to 80 lbs. Not bad for four hours. If you are looking to go out on your own then check the beach along Gordon drive or from Laudermilk Park to Doctors Pass, lots of Snook along those beaches. There are also some Pompano with a few permit mixed in with them. Try small bonefish flies in #4 size for both the Snook and The Pompano. Small tan and white clousers and or pink and white is size four.

Marco Island and the Ten Thousand Islands

Bait fishing and Plug Casting seems to be your best bet in the Ten T. Lots of early topwater action on all the Island points. Marco River has lots of Snook and Tarpon and the 951 Bridge is full of fish both night and in the early morning. Fishing from 951 the other day we didn't even get to the bridge, because the Snook, Jacks, and Tarpon were going insane at the mouth of the 951 Canal. We were to tired to fish the bridge after we finished there, we just went on looking for a Redfish in Addison Bay. Were we happily found more Snook and Tarpon. Unfortunately we saw Reds but were unable to land any. Try looking around Turttle Creek at the dead low incoming tide. The beach at Tigertail, including the lagoon and Hideaway has been red hot on Marco Island.

Offshore Fishing

Traveled a whole 10 miles offshore on Sunday and at the first shrimper we saw we chunked up a couple of Sardines and some of the biggest False Albacore I have ever seen came out like gangbusters. We drifted there and caught and released all, my anglers wanted along with a couple of Dolphin for the box. I was surprised to see the Dolphin in this close but when we talked to the shrimper he said he has been seeing and catching both Dolphin and Black fin Tuna under the nets. We did a little bartering and had some nice shrimp to go with the Dolphin filets. Went on to a close by wreck and landed a couple more False Albacore along with some Mangrove Snapper, and Broke off a couple of Goliath's. They were ready to go in. I hope this action keeps up the rest of the summer, but for right now it is Hot! Hot! Hot! AND I DON"T MEEN THE WEATHER.
