Big Shallow Water Action

Capt. Joey Benko
May 14, 2017
Naples - Saltwater Fishing Report

April and May have been nothing short of fantastic. Tarpon have been the Big Fish to catch here in SWFl. Snook Redfish and Trout have been around in great numbers providing anglers with nonstop action. Look for pilchards and threads to be on the beaches. Catching bait is going to get tough with the spawn so hit the beaches with 1/4 inch mesh nets or grab some sibiki's to catch good bait. Tarpon can be found in the passes and on the beaches heading north. Get out early to tackle these line siders.

Naples Fishing Forecast:

Having the front pass through will help stabilize the fishing and tides. It's going to take a few days for the gulf to clean up to go catch bait. Coming off the full moon should also help improve the bite. We should be slipping into the summer pattern of getting out early and having thunderstorms take up the afternoons but until then Bust Out and go fishing.

Target Species:

Tarpon, Snook, Redfish, Trout, Jacks, Sharks
