Snapper Fishing

Capt. Michael Avinon
February 3, 2010
Naples - Saltwater Fishing Report

The last two days are the first we have fished since the grouper closure a full day yesterday and a half day today both with good results. On the full day we had a limit of mangrove snappers up to 20" and amberjacks up to 20pds.On the half day we had 18 snappers and some other mixed grunts and porgies. All of our fishing now is on light tackle mostly 20pd or 12pd tackle. The kings are getting closer to naples last report I heard was about 45 miles offshore so they should show up in the next 10 to 14 days.

Naples Fishing Forecast:

The bait is starting to show back in the area and should only get better everyday. One of my favorite things to do is to load the well with bait and head offshore. With 1200 pilchards in the livewells you can drive fish into a frenzy. It's an awesome sight to have amberjacks and snappers chasing bait to the stern on one spot and having kingfish skyrocket baits all around the boat all in the same day.As things warm up the next few weeks its one of my favorite and most exciting times to fish.

More Fishing Reports:

I have been operating out of Naples for over twenty years and have the spots to prove it.With a range of over 400 miles and the speed to get there quickly the options are endless. We are consistently one of the top producing boats in sw florida, stop by the city dock and see for yourself.
