Naples - Saltwater Fishing Report

Finally we are enjoying the warm weather and hot fishing we should have had weeks ago. Happy Easter by the way! I am enjoying this beautiful Sunday with Miss and the Kids by relaxing by the pool..
This week the fishing finally broke open. The snook are hungry and seem to be eating every bait that gets put in front of them! On my third trip of the day yesterday (why I'm resting) I had a father and daughter team from D.C… Dad caught 14 snook before the sun went down.. His biggest was an absolute monster 41 inch, 21 ˝ pound female that I was certainty not ready for… Daughter Lexis was close behind with 12..
On the second trip Todd and his two sons from Houston wanted to bring home dinner. We set up at the end of Keewayden Island with pink jigs. We had to fight through countless ladyfish, jacks and Mackerels to get 5 large tasty Pompanos!
The morning trip was with regular client Bob and his two Grandsons Cameron and Jake… This was a numbers competition. Again setting up on a downed tree line we had steady action for 3 hours with sheep head and snapper using live shrimp..
The fishing is only going to get better as the waters warm up into the higher 70's
Tarpon are being caught to the south; it will not be long until they are here in Naples. May and June will be prim time here, I will be sending out a flyer to all clients as to when the fishing is on fire. If you have not fished with me before and would like to be put on the list, just send me an email and I will add you on..
Again, enjoy you Easter and hope to see you soon.
Update: 4-10-10
The Tarpon are back!
I fished for them today and although none came to the boat Leighton Taylor of B.C. Canada fought 1 and jumped two. The bay I fished had about 2 dozen very large fish in it rolling all around us!!
Very exciting, going back at them in the morning…
Pete
