Lake Toho Summer Draw Down

Capt. Jim Passmore
June 18, 2008
Orlando - Freshwater Fishing Report

Lake Toho and the Kissimmee Chain experience summer draw downs each year as we approach Hurricane season. And Heavy summer rains.
With the draw down, movement of bass, crappie and other fish tend to move out into more deeper water as the shore line and grass line receed. Leaving less cover for bait fish and as well bass, crappie and so on.
The key is to look for pockets or deeper areas with some depression and hard bottom, with a slight rise in the bottom where there may be hydrilla growing a few feet of the bottom.
Mostly what I look for this time of the year is in water 6 to 9 foot deep. Remember our average depth is 4 to 6 foot. I also look for clear water or less stain. as the water depth and winds as well as temperatures cause the water to stain up more this of the year.

Orlando Fishing Forecast:

Fishing has been great, just not as many wanting to go out, as the heat is on. What most don't know it is a good time to catch numbers and size and these babies are hungry and full of energy, Most morning we have seen 20 + bass and size up to 9 lbs. No kidding.

Target Species:

Largemouth Bass
