Clermont Chain
Today we Launched out of Hull Road ramp, meet up with with Capt Al Bella, Of Captain Al's Angling Adventures, super nice guy and very knowledgeable when it come to the Clermont Chain. We discussed a few things about the chain, and how its fishes, we both seem to have some great success on this chain. After sharing info with eachother it was off to Lake Louisa. Started the day on the extreme southern end of the lake, working a yellow weed walker going after the top water bite, but there were no takers today.
Switched off to the flipping with craws and BB Crickets and still there were no takers, switched off to a white spinner bait and picked up one in the 2 pound range.
From there i moved along the west shoreline to check out a few other areas, along the way spooted a small cove that had a slight current being pushed into it with the breeze, circled into the cove and came up behind the current and worked the white spinner bait thru it and managed to pick up 3 more keeps to 2.5 pounds.
Today the bite was a tough bite but the bass were still there, Lake Louisa is the southern most end of the Clermont Chain and the water there is a little more tanic than the rest of the chain, but with time and patience you will catch your limit. Tons of flooded timber, cypress and grass patches that hold some good catches, for which some of our biggest catches in the 8 to 10 pound range have come from.
For those that wish to fish the cleaner waters the Northern end of the chain is the place to be, Lake Cook being the one right now that seem to be the most active, working either weed walkers or a culprit frog or even a horny toad thru the lily pads will produce what you are looking for.
Till my next report, tight lines and great fishing
