Orlando, FL - Lake Toho, Clermont Chain & The Kissimmee Chain

Capt. Tim Fey

Orlando - Freshwater Fishing Report

Clermont Chain

Today was a day of rest and to scout a little more on Clermont.

Started the day out in Emerald Lakes slow trolling a shiner behind the boat and working a spinnerbait and Tiki Stick with no luck, went into main lake area and pitched the shiner right at the entrance to Emerald Lakes and kicked back and relaxed, managed 3 bass to 2.5 pounds out of the mouth entering Emerald Lakes.

Flipping the eastern shoreline of Lake Palatlakaha with BB Crickets and Gene Larew Craws managed to pick up 2 more on the Gene Larew Craw/black neon color.Eastern shoreline has some excellent grass for flipping, if you want some serious hard core flipping try the western shoreline which is packed with flooded cypress and has held some serious hawgs, but since this was a scouting trip, we opted to fish the Eastern side to see what was holding up in the grasses.

The entire stretch i was also slow trolling a live shiner behind the boat set to 3 feet deep and not one hit on the shiner. With 9 shiners left out of the dozen and a brief conversation with Captain Al Bella I was headed to Lake Hiawatha to work the same pattern, flippin craws and trolling shiners, with no takers in Hiawatha on the craws, spinnerbaits or buzzbaits we decided to let the reamining 9 shiners swim off freedom.

Bite was on the tough side today on Clermont Chain as can be the case on any body of water at any given time, patience and persistance will always win out as long as you stay focused at the task in hand, catching bass.Remember, you dont always have to change your lure, but changing up how you present it can make a world of a difference.

Till my next report, tight lines and great fishing
