Orlando, FL - Lake Toho, Clermont Chain & The Kissimmee Chain

Capt. Tim Fey
November 20, 2005
Orlando - Freshwater Fishing Report

Butler Chain week ending November 20th

This past week has been a great week on the Butler Chain. With cooler weather and cooler waters the bite has picked up pretty good out here, granted the top water bite has not been that great, which is what we really love to most, being able to see your bait get crushed.

Lake Tibet has been one of the best lakes for our bite this past week, using spinner baits and Tiki Sticks have been very productive on the Butler Chain no matter what lake you hit. Working mostly shoreline grass beds on Tibet yielded several bass to 4 pounds, hitting deeper water grass beds to 16 feet yielded bass to 6 ˝ pounds.

Lake Isleworth we had several bass caught working tube baits around the canal entrances in the lily pads as well as with shallow running Ugly Ducklings.

Lake Chase has some good flooded timber which yielded good numbers using white jigs. Bite seemed to be a “lazy” bite as you really had to watch your line, they were picking up the baits and just holding them.

We had two runs into Lake Blanche with mixed results, first run yielded only two bass on what is typically a great lake to fish with some good deep waters. Second run was a great one, with 16 bass being caught up to 6 pounds using weighted Shad Sticks in 8 to 12 feet of water.

We expect the bite to remain good to great out on Butler Chain throughout the winter as this chain has always been a great cool to cold weather lake to fish, and one of the best for using jiggin spoons to catch some good limits. Previous years have showed Lakes Tibet and Lake Down to be two of the best lakes out there for using jiggin spoons with Lake Down having one of the “hidden” holes with sunken Christmas Trees on it.

Till my next report, tight lines and great fishing
