Tarpon and Redfish at Sebastain Inlet

Capt. Jim Passmore
July 28, 2008
Orlando - Saltwater Fishing Report

The past 2 weeks have been very promising as we have been fishing the inlet and jettie at Sebastain on the east coast. Large Bull Reds and 100 plus pound tarpons have been the focus of out trips.
Working the flats in search of small crabs as the tide pull them loose from the grass and on their float trip to the inlet we manage to net several 2 to 3 inch crabs, remember you are not to keep any blue crabs.
The best time is at the start of the out going high tide. Work the inlet as you drift. We use 60 lb braid with a 50 lb flo-carb leader. I perfer Youzri myself. with a 5 ough circle hook, float the crab with no weight or bobber. After the tide has reached half way point, move to the outside of the jettie and anchor to fish the eddie from the tide coming thru the jettie. The north side is usually the best.
It has been great and several have been caught by our clients. You can visit our other web site www.orlandofishing.com for some good pictures of saltwater action in july. This will run usually thru Sept.

Lake Toho fishing is still producing good quality bass early in the morning. I am fishing water in the 6 to 7 ft areas with light hydrilla on the bottom. Look for clear water. Be sure to get out early. With afternoon thunder storms it has kept out water temps in the mid 80's, and has made summer fishing good.
