Palm Beach - Saltwater Fishing Report
A weak cool front helps bring September to the final stretch! Cooler weather brought a big groundswell, driving, mullet schools south, and also pushing mullet schools into the intercoastal waterways.
Tarpon fishing came to a holt on the beaches as ground swells made it impossible to target them. Tarpon on the inside waterways were striking, live mullet, and Doa bait busters. The tarpon have been ranging from 5 to 80 pounds. The extreme high tides made tarpon little finicky at times anglers enjoyed jumping tarpon, but many of them not landed.
Snook fishing has been consistent around structured areas bridges, seawalls and docks. Anglers are using live mullet free lined with the tide. A rapala skitter walk excellent bait for top water action. Snook can be found ambushing bait schools on flats and around mangrove shorelines, early morning late afternoon produce epic feedings.
With all the mullet migrating into the local area, Jacks have been abundant along with bluefish, spanish mackerel and ladyfish. All of these fish are willing to eat a live bait, artificial enthusiast can use Rapala skitter walk or a Doa 3" shad tail.
