Snook are abundant along seawalls and docks. The extremely high tides and windy conditions have these fish roaming seawalls in search of bait schools. Live bait and the Rapala Skitter V have been excellent choices for enticing strikes, with snook ranging from 15 to 25 inches.
Tarpon fishing picked up a little over the past week. These fish are abundant throughout the Intracoastal Waterway, and live bait freelined with the tide has produced explosive strikes and hookups. Smaller baits have been getting the most attention. Cleaner water and areas with strong current have been the best places to locate schooling tarpon.
Jack crevalle, Spanish mackerel, and schools of bluefish have kept anglers busy with drag-screaming runs! These fish are abundant in deep channels and along the flats. Live bait and DOA Curl Tails have been excellent options for enticing strikes, with both incoming and outgoing tides producing fish.
When tides and winds make fishing tough, bottom fishing is an excellent way to keep anglers busy. Shrimp worked near the bottom have produced a wide variety of species, including mangrove snapper, lane snapper, mutton snapper, grunts, parrotfish, moonfish, and plenty of others that put a bend in the rod.
That's the fishing report for the past week. I hope you all enjoyed it! Remember, you can't catch them from the couch, so get out there and get hooked up.
Tight lines!
