Palm Beach - Saltwater Fishing Report
Clear skies and windy conditions, repetitive but frustrating for boaters, as sea conditions continue to batter boaters. Just the beginning for the fronts it look like it going to be a windy winter.
Snook fishing closed December 15, but anglers can still expect great linesider action. Snook are schooled up near docks, sea walls and channels. live baits and jigs produce double digit numbers of catch. Fly fisherman time to get the drag screaming, snook fishing at night under lights, offers impressive jumps and rod bending action.
Tarpon are schooled up in the backcountry and in residential canals, taking DOA baitbuster and live mullet freelined with the tide. Tarpon rolling on the surface early morning and evening offer great shots with top water plugs. Typical size of the tarpon ranges from 5 to 40 pounds.
The grass flats are teaming with trout, jacks, snook, ladyfish and a few redfish. Popping corks with DOA shrimp or a DOA Cal in holographic or glow and Gold rush great colors to get a strike. Works depths from 2 to 5 feet targeting grassy areas with pot holes or sandy pockets.
Peacock bass are still active and will continue to be aggressive taking flies DOA lures and live shiners in there vicinity. Seawalls and rocky shorelines great areas to locate the colorful peacocks. The peacock bass are ranging 2 to 5 pounds with a few around 6 pounds.
