Panama City - Saltwater Fishing Report

Some of my fellow Cowboy fans, Troy McQuagge and his posse; Travis, Shawn and Brian, are in the area for a vollyball tourny. Of course they have to get in a little R&R on the water. Thanks for the signed Tony Dorsett jersey you brought me earlier in the year Troy, you know I appreciate it.
We headed to the pass talking football, Cowboys football, hoping to get some redfish and sheepshead actions. The bite was a little slow but we managed to get a few nice fish.
We ended up on the flats tossing DOA and popping corks for trout. That hasn't failed me yet this spring the bite was on. One really cool thing about today; I was in the ghetto tower as a 6 foot bull shark swam by in the three feet of water up on the flats. Most of the guys got to see him and now understand why I don't swim any more unless there are four walls and a floor.

Panama City Fishing Forecast:

As the temps continue to warm along with the full moon passsing next Wednesday the fishing shoule erupt. 30 days from now the big trout will be on the prowl and everyone knows who can put you on those fish. Check out my reports from last May.
The spanish are not finished. Monday was a hot day with big numbers piling through the pass. Weather, moon phase and temps will play and integral part in when and how many spanish pile into the bay. There are plenty to catch with Gotchas! and spoons. There will be even more when we can start getting menhaden.
Kings will start showing up in a few weeks, although the will be further offshore the warm days of May will bring them close to the beach by June.
Within the next two or three weeks the ladyfish, bluefish and hardtails will start showing up in big numbers which will trigger the summer bite.

Target Species:

Spring is here....let's go fishing!

More Fishing Reports:

Sight casting fly and spinning for reds, trout, bonita, spanish, jacks and many other species. Live bait trips available as well as hot topwater action in the bay around Panama City, Florida. Depending on the time of the year I can normally put you on legal grouper in the bay, monster speckled trout, lot's of fly fishing action and just about everything else that swims and good tablefare.
