Panama City - Saltwater Fishing Report
The Gulf of Mexico Red Snapper season opened on Monday. You could have not asked for a more perfect day,
light southwest winds and 1-2 ft seas. Fished with the intention of catching grouper while filling our snapper
limit along the way. We happened on a small weed patch that had small school of small Mahi on the way out, caught four
before moving on. Limited out on Red Snapper and Red Grouper before noon, switched gears on locations to attempt to
fill out the box with a couple of Black Grouper, found a nice one on our first drop when this guy showed up.
At first it looked as though he was not going to take a bait but after 5-10 minutes of nosing around the boat he took a live pin fish
After a 15 minute battle and a few tense moments around the gaff we iced him off and headed home with a nice box of fish with a 60lb bonus
Tally for the day 8 Red snapper, 8 Red Grouper, 1 Black Grouper, 2 Scamp,4 Mahi and the 50lb Ling
