Panama City - Saltwater Fishing Report

Did the wind blow today or what??? This morning was really hard. Capt. Buckey Weaver got dragged over the rocks and then his anchort stuck... He was in the honey hole. I saw his action from a distance and moved in range. All the real guides, this time of year, happily fish close to one another with no fuss. Many Bull Reds, Black Drum, and Sheephead, taken by all boats. After pulling on those we poked our nose out of the rocks to go looking for a Cobia. Way too nasty for that in the first trip. I don't waste time... We didn't keep all we landed, just enough. In the afternoon I had a sight fishing client. Last minute deal. One guy, I told him $300 for 4hrs. I had actually fished him before. I saw some other guide in a half tower sitting buy the pass doing circles in the pretty water. The fish always dive at the pass. If your not in a real tower you might as well be standing on the rail of a center console. If the water is dirty as I said it would be on the beaches, you have to work harder. It is Sooooo Important to cover ground. I hooked the first fish up just to show how it goes down. We went 1 for 3 in our 4 hrs. Got one 43lbs. on the boga. I let my client jig two fish. This guy can fish! Second fish didn't even look at it. Then we flooped ole earl on him and nothing. This fish had been fooled with. The next one chommped my clients jig and shook off at the boat, just in Gaff range... If anyone said the cobes aren't here, they are fool. I've Boated 11 in the last week. I've only Cobia fished 6 times. Do the math!!! Look at my post. My only competion are all my friends. Most are guides. The only full-time guide that has caught more than I have is Jeff Morman. Good for Jeff. He makes me fish harder. Sight fishing is my PASSION! If you want to catch cobia, Call Half Hitch Tackle, Call Howell Tackle. Ask for a Guide that Cobia fishes everyday. If I'm booked I'll send you to somesbody that can get the job done. Like I said, If the price is too good to be true, it is. I know who is on the fish. All my friends and I do this!!!!!
