Panama City - Saltwater Fishing Report

Sorry it has been awhile sense my last report but I'm out of the country right now so getting on-line and publishing pictures of all the fish Capt Todd and his customers are catching is a bit tough. Anyway here it is. Capt. Todd says the weather has been outstanding for catching trout and redfish. The hot weather has got the trout and reds feeding early in the morning and late in the afternoon.
The bait of choice for the trout is a large spook or a skitter walk. If that doesn't produce switch over to the Cajun Thunder popping cork. Same as always, tie the jib about 18 inches below the cork and work it back to the boat letting it sit for a couple of seconds between pops.

We have been using some shallow water crank baits with feather hooks when the winds get up. Make sure you get the ones with the rattles in them. They have been producing nice trout in the 2 to 3 foot water range. If it starts to grass-up the hooks slow the retrieve. We have found twitching the bait instead of a steady retrieve works best.
Areas to fish right now are behind the airport, next to the Navy base (stay 200ft from shore), flats around redfish point, and the flats around HWY79 bridge are very good.
I will be back on the water soon. As always be safe out on the water and watch out for the other guy.
