Panama City - Saltwater Fishing Report

We continue to catch big reds and sheeps in the pass. This will continue for another few weeks. The big reds are always there and can be caught throughout the summer.

We found a school of reds last Saturday morning up in the bay, catching about 25 before moving on. Sometimes we cathc a lot of small fish like we did that day, but that's ok...on 6lb. test they are a lot of fun. Can't complain about 25 two to five pound reds in a morning of fishing.

The first spanish was landed also on Saturday which means the run is just a short time away. My favorite way to cathc early spanish on spinning gear is with a bubble rig. A bubble rin is made with a small piece of tubing and a treble hook tied to a swivel with about two feet of 40lb. test between them. A clear float half full of water above that on your running line. Find the fish and throw the rig into them and reel as fast as you can. The spanish will come up and bust them. It's easy to catch 150 fish in a half day using this technique. On the fly, anything tied small on a size 6 hook will catch them.

Cobia are going to show up any time. If your looking for a cobia/pompano trip give me a call.
See you on the water.
