Florida Fishing Report for Panama City & Destin

Capt. James Pic
June 14, 2003
Panama City - Saltwater Fishing Report

Panama City/N.W. Florida

Fishing has been tough and this will be a short report. Lot of rain and wind. Fortunataly for me I have more fishing spots than Aunt Jemimah has grits so we managed to do O.K.

Although we've had to work hard for them we have managed some good trout and reds this week along with all of the usual suspects, blues, spanish, ladyfish and blue runners.

More and more flounder are showing up and some good grouper are being caught in the bay. The brightest spot is there seems to be a lot of pompano along the beach and

nobody fishing for them. We did catch a few very nice bonnet head sharks this week which are great to eat and have wonderful filets.

It's been to rough off-shore for a lot of boats to get out so not much to report there. As soon as things turn I will up date the report. All I can say about this report is if you want a sugar coated version of

whats happening down here, my report is not the one to read. I will always tell it exactly like it is.

The best artificial bait right now is silver tiny torpedoes early in the morning for 5 pound spanish and Exude twitch baits for reds and trout. We carry both in the store.

Good luck and good fishing, remember--only keep what you need and put the rest back for another day.

JP

More Fishing Reports:

Sight casting fly and spinning for reds, trout, bonita, spanish, jacks and many other species. Live bait trips available as well as hot topwater action in the bay around Panama City, Florida. Depending on the time of the year I can normally put you on legal grouper in the bay, monster speckled trout, lot's of fly fishing action and just about everything else that swims and good tablefare.
