Panama City - Saltwater Fishing Report

Panama City/N. W. Florida
The weather is cooling down but the fishing has been heating up.
The last few days the big schools of migrating spanish have been beating the shcools of bait all over the bay. We did real well today sight fishing for the schools and running bubble rigs across the top of the schools. There are some big bluefish swimming around some of the ledges, fish in excess of five pounds.
Flounder are on the move with good catches being reported to me by some of my friends. Bouncing grubs will catch them especially if you tip them with something like fresh lizard fish.
I have been having a lot of success with the redfish lately and believe that will continue. Found some up in the "weeds" in West Bay this week. Redfish have bounced back wonderfully after last years red tide.
Last, as the water cools down the trout will be on the move. Some will move back into the gulf and east some will move up into the creeks and bayous. If you locate some trout this time of year, chances are, they will be all be about the same size and in good numbers.
I have five people signed up for next years trip back to the Belize River Lodge for five days of bonefish, permit, tarpon and snook. You can go to their site, BelizeRiverLodge.com and see the facility. Anyone wanting to go, send me a mail and I will give you the specifics.
Good luck and see you on the water,
Capt. James Pic
