Panama City - Saltwater Fishing Report

Panama City, NW Florida
Cold! Been a frigid fall, but that doesn't mean some of the fishing hasn't been hot. This fall has been good for flounder. Been taking a lot of people flounder fishing, catching as many as 30 in a trip. One morning we caught a "lost" black grouper that weighed in around 15 lbs. and was 30 inches long. Most of the flounder are in the pound and a half range with a few three or four pound fish mixed in.
The steam plant canal, Warren Bayou, should be good for those that want to catch trout, reds, jacks and others. Remember that it's catch and release only in Warren Bayou until the end of February and technically you could be cited with fish in the box while fishing there even if you caught them somewhere else.
Duck season opens tomorrow and the forcast is for a good year. That depends on how cold it gets this fall and winter. So far so good with the temps. I'm booked a lot this first phase but have plenty of days available in December. Normally we shoot a lot of birds between December 15 and just after New Years day.
There are fish to catch all winter long that are very good to eat. I have some spots where we catch a lot of whiting, black bass along with trout and reds in the winter. Give me a call if your going to be in town this winter and I will put you on some fish.
Remember, I'm putting together a return trip to the Belize River Lodge for next year. Email me if you want to experience some great fishing and hospitality in a beautiful place. We have three spots left.
See you on the water.
