Florida Fishing Report for Panama City & Destin

Capt. James Pic
January 29, 2007
Panama City - Saltwater Fishing Report

Panama City/NW Florida

Warren Bayou has been excellent for trout and jacks. Had a lot of nice trout, some over 22", the last week. Had a couple of big jacks on the fly. With the cold weather finally rolling in the fishing in the hot water canal should continue to be good.

On one of my trips last week we caught some nice black drum, whiting, silver trout and black sea bass on the bottom with cut bait. Deep holes with structure and bridges are your best bet for this kind of action.

Fishing in the bayous and creeks for trout should continue to be good with live bait and soft plastics. White clousers and sinking line for the fly fisherman.

DUCK HUNTING

Season ends today and although it was what I would consider a poor year overall, we had a few very good days here and there. Hopefully we will get some colder weather next season to bring the ducks down. If it was easy everyone would be doing it.

I'll have a cobia tower this year on the boat if you want to do some cobia fishing. I'm already booking well in to the summer so reserve your date as soon as possible.

See you on the water.

Capt. James Pic

More Fishing Reports:

Sight casting fly and spinning for reds, trout, bonita, spanish, jacks and many other species. Live bait trips available as well as hot topwater action in the bay around Panama City, Florida. Depending on the time of the year I can normally put you on legal grouper in the bay, monster speckled trout, lot's of fly fishing action and just about everything else that swims and good tablefare.
