Panama City - Saltwater Fishing Report

Panama City/NW Florida
Some of my most enjoyable days are those with happy kids on the boat. These are a few from the last couple of weeks.
With the hot days of summer, as hot as I can remember in a long time, we have been working at it extra hard. Still putting large numbers of trout in the boat along with spanish, a few flounder, sharks and blues. The legal sized grouper have started moving into the bay.
Sarah Sheres caught this ladyfish within a few minutes of holding a fly rod for the first time....good job, great first fish on the fly.
When the heat breaks fishing will be furious. Second spanish and cobia run. Cobia? That's right, we pick up a few cobia on the return trip in the fall. Big trout in the holes, grouper in the bay and, of course, the fall flounder run.
Last, I know I'm controversial...that's ok. One of the things I here all the time is: "yeah, yu bean fishin' here all yur life!" Of course it's sarcasm. I dug up a photo of a cute little guy...that's right, it's me on December 27, 1971 holding a 6.5 lbs. trout caught standing on the bank in Pretty Bayou. Yup, I caught em like that before most of the guided around here were born and I'm still catching, and putting my client's, on them.
The best fishing of the year starts soon. I'm out almost every day, still, finding new fish moving in. We are catching everthing in the bay and also doing a lot of king fishing this year.
Good luck and see you on the water.
