Trout bite continues to be big

Panama City - Saltwater Fishing Report

The best thing about having a big and roomy 22' tunnel hull is; NO CACELLATIONS DUE TO A LITTLE WIND OR RAIN!

We are destroying the trout each time we go out. A few reds here and there and some random pompano. Check out the photos.

We have been catching most of the fish on DOA's with popping corks. Various colors but always the 1/4 ounce size. If you want to know how to rig or fish them shoot me an email and I will be happy to 'splain it to you.

A lot of people ask what I do when I'm not fishing. I play a lot of golf. Love the outdoors and the beauty of many of the golf courses in the southease. I recently was invited to play at the Trent Jones Course in Dothan for the "In His Grip" golf tournement to help spread the word. I have been lucky enough to be invited to play in this tournement for the last few years. It's a great time and for a good cause. If you want to know more you can go to Inhisgrip.com

I have a great recipe for the next report, stay tuned.

Panama City Fishing Forecast:

Fishing get's better this time of year with each new front and as the weather warms up. Knowing where to find the fish is important also. I recently had some folks from Dothan that hunt with me in the winter and fish down here on their own during the summer. The comment was, "I would have never thought to look for trout here"....thats why you hire a competent guide, knows where to find the fish when they are not in the place everyone else thinks they should be.
The trout bite is a lot like three years ago. That year we had 13 or 14 fish over 7 lbs; a couple 29 inches long and one fish over 10lbs. This could be a year to put you on a trophy fish and over the years there have been countless big trout landed on my boat.
Reds should be easier and easier to catch as the weather warms. I'll start to live bait fish around the first of May.
We have been catching a few pompano and that bite is one of my favorite: sight casting at big schools as they swim by.
Everything is starting to happen. The perfect trip for anyone; fly fisherman, live bait or artificial is a couple of hours of trout and reds and then going after big numbers of jacks, pomps, spanish and many other species that will be READILY available to catch over the next month or so.
Now is the time to fish.

Target Species:

Everything...and big!

More Fishing Reports:

Sight casting fly and spinning for reds, trout, bonita, spanish, jacks and many other species. Live bait trips available as well as hot topwater action in the bay around Panama City, Florida. Depending on the time of the year I can normally put you on legal grouper in the bay, monster speckled trout, lot's of fly fishing action and just about everything else that swims and good tablefare.
