Pensacola - Saltwater Fishing Report
Well, fellow angler’s June is all it’s supposed to be – WIDE OPEN. Just about anything you want is in full swing. The weather has been letting me run a lot of Red Snapper trips and it’s been paying off with limits of fish on just about every trip.
The light tackle Snapper fishing is a lot of fun and believe you me there are lots of big Red Snapper on the state water public reefs. It’s just a matter of learning how to catch them. Just so you can know what I’m talking about-it’s the light penetration, the shallow clear water lets the light go all the way to the bottom, the fish can see very well and if you drop big tackle down your not going to get a bite, they can see it. So, over the last five years I have perfected the light tackle aspect of near shore reef fishing for Red Snapper and it’s a blast!!!!
Here a few pictures of my last few trips –
The inshore fishing is going off the charts, there are lots of Specks on the flats and the early morning top water bite is hot. Red fish are combing the flats in search of crabs and shrimp. I spotted a nice school of Reds tailing on a flat yesterday, they were following a big school of mullet and as the mullet flushed up the crabs and shrimp the Reds were feasting. We were able to catch 7 fish out of the school before they left the flat-it was a blast.
Here are a few pictures of my last few inshore trips –
I know one thing for sure - You ain’t going to catch’em sittin’ on the couch!!
So get out there, and take a kid fishing.
Tight Lines and Screaming Drags, Till Next Time! God Bless.
