Pensacola - Saltwater Fishing Report
Quick report: June 24th - Inshore Flats Report 2013
June has been a great month so far for inshore fishing on the flats for trout and redfish. I did venture out in the gulf only a couple of times for snapper, but spent most of the time inshore hooking up some nice trout and slot reds. Most of the trout have been between 14 –18" with a few well over 20". The biggest trout this season was 27.5" and if I had to take a guess on the weight I would say a good 6 lbs or maybe even bigger, but that might be a fish tale.
During the first part of June, I spent many days up in Escambia Bay, but as we got further into June and had lots of rain, I started to make my way towards the Sound and Big Lagoon. 99% of the trips are my clients are using artificials, unless they want live bait, but I tell them, we're catching more on artificials most of the time and after a short instructional lesson to show them how to use the baits, they're hooking up some nice trout and even a few redfish mixed in.
I've changed my inshore style this year to more inshore flats / back country fishing.
My new style of inshore charter I'm running now has become very popular with my northern bass, crappie, striper, and walleye anglers that love this style of fishing.
