Change in Florida weather ( Matlacha Pass )

Capt. Cliff Simer

Pine Island Sound - Saltwater Fishing Report

Southwest Florida weather met us the last couple trips from sunny days to overcast and strong winds. The trips went well with good bites for most spots and a few that had me scratching my head thinking " where did the fish go " Grass bottom in the 6-8 foot depth were producing great action with trout, spanish mackeral, blue fish and even had a 60+lb tarpon grab a bait, give us a good jump before spitting the hook. Small cobia are also being caught in the same areas. We were fishing some shallow grass flats near the fish shacks in Pine Island sound and came across three bull sharks about 6 feet long within 20 feet of each other.

Pine Island Sound Fishing Forecast:

Fishing continues to improve, The big fish are showing up in better numbers and fast action over deeper grass bottom is a good bet.
