A steady diet of cold fronts

Capt. Gary Clark
February 7, 2010
Pine Island Sound - Saltwater Fishing Report

Fishing report for the week ending 2/7/2010 with a chance of sounding slightly repititious which in this case is not a bad thing cold fronts comming in sometimes only 4 or 5 days appart like this next week the fish are in a winter pattern.

Its probably us that has the adjusting to do seeing there is only a couple of days during the week that the wind doesnt blow hard. I dont know how the offshore guys do it.

The trout fishing has been good on the light wind days giving up limits for both of my anglers on thursday with good numbers of fish in the 18-20 range and lots of releases. These fronts are holding the bigger trout in shallow potholes on low incomming tides, white redfish majic on a 1/4 oz. jighead has been a killer. I have not had enough light wind days to fish transitions of the flats which will normally produce trout up to 3 lbs. on topwater plugs but this will happen soon.

Redfish are still of the 20 inch and below size are still showing up in good numbers fishing in the wildlife refugess with a live shrimp with a splitshot on the bottom. There have been some signs of baitfish of the small variety showing up in the bay and around the bridges that will bring mackeral, bluefish and pompano around which everyone will be glad to see.

Tight lines Get out and fish!
